About Us
A nonprofit based in El Paso, Texas, we established our program to support underprivileged communities and expand access to creative opportunities. With an 81% Hispanic population, our city faces unique cultural and economic challenges that often limit children’s access to arts education. We created our studio as a safe, uplifting space where young artists can explore creativity, strengthen emotional expression, and build confidence through hands‑on art experiences. Our mission is to inspire young souls by bonding families, improving creativity, and transmitting inclusivity across our community. Every project we offer is designed to nurture imagination, celebrate culture, and ensure every child feels seen and empowered.
President | Mario Oceguera
Mario Oceguera founded The Bright Tree Foundation from a lifelong belief in the power of creativity. Growing up, art was his escape, confidence, and way of imagining something bigger, even when access to supplies, classes, and creative opportunities was limited. Through Bright Tree, Mario hopes to give children and young people the tools, experiences, and encouragement they need to discover their voice, believe in their potential, and become the creators and changemakers of tomorrow.
Treasurer | Lizette Oceguera
Lizette Oceguera brings a heart for service and community to The Bright Tree Foundation. While living in Las Vegas, she worked with a charter school and later with the Culinary Union, where she helped translate and advocate for employees who needed a voice. Since moving to El Paso, Lizette has continued serving others through her volunteer work at Edgemere Elementary, where she has been recognized for her dedication, and through her involvement with the school’s booster organization, helping raise support for students and school programs.
Secretary | Genesis Ramirez
Genesis, an El Paso native has been involved in important art programs in the city. With a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, she brings a deep understanding of how art strengthens emotional development, confidence, and cognitive growth in young people. Throughout the years, Genesis has led multiple community art projects and murals, using color, storytelling, and public spaces to uplift neighborhoods and spark imagination. Her passion for art is rooted in a belief that creativity is a universal language—one that can empower children, connect families, and open doors for underrepresented communities. Through her work, she is committed to expanding access to artistic experiences so every child has the chance to explore, express, and discover their unique voice.
